National Institute for Teacher Training (INAFOCAM) to Celebrate its 19th Anniversary with Various Events

Santo Domingo, July 15, 2019 – The National Institute for Teacher Training (Inafocam) announced that it will hold a series of events between July 15 and 19 to celebrate its 19th anniversary. The Institute’s main goal since its founding has been to train and continuously update teachers who work in the Dominican public education system.

The activities, as announced, were scheduled to begin on Monday, July 15, in Inafocam headquarters in Santo Domingo. That day, organizers will open a photo exhibit of the multiple programs the Institute has sponsored through the years. Other activities will include entertaining activities to highlight investigative techniques used by science students who are also interested in someday teaching this particular course.

The activities will continue on Tuesday, July 16, at 10:00 a.m. at the Barceló Hotel in Santo Domingo where, in a special ceremony, various teachers who have graduated from the Institute will receive special excellence awards

On Wednesday, July 17, at 3:30 p.m., organizers announced the presentation of a special research project titled “Motivational Factors that Impact the Academic Accomplishments of Education Students of the Dominican Republic,” headed by Dr. Eliseo A. Barca, from the University of La Coruña, in Spain.

On Thursday, July 18, at 9:00 a.m., there will be a special event to discuss “The Evaluation and Perspective of Programs and Projects Carried Out by Inafocam.” The event will take place at the Sheraton Hotel in Santo Domingo. Also on the program will be a keynote speech on “Teacher Training During the 21st Century: The Chilean Experience,” delivered by the Ambassador of that nation in the Dominican Republic, H.E. Romilio Gutiérrez Pino.

Finally, on Friday, July 19, at 9:00 a.m. on the actual anniversary date of the founding of the Inafocam, there will be a special mass at the Sanctuary of Our Lady of La Altagracia. After the special mass, a special delegation from the Institute will participate in a wreath-laying ceremony at the National Altar.
The day’s events will conclude with a special fraternal gathering, to be held at the Hotel Catalonia in Santo Domingo.
