Electoral Process Took Place at the Dominican College of Journalists
Santo Domingo, September 3, 2019 – Dominican journalist Claudine Nova was recently elected as the new president of the Dominican Association of Social Journalists. The elections were held at the main offices of the country´s Dominican College of Journalists.
Journalist Nova will head the Association during the 2019-2021 period. She will carry out her new responsibilities with a team that includes journalists Mirna Pimentel, as First Vice President; Mercedes Guzmán, Second Vice President; Juan Tomás, Secretary General; Siddy Roque, Treasurer; Santa De la Cruz, Secretary of Public Relations and Communications; Raquel Lugo, Protocol Secretary; Florentino Durán, Secretary of Recreation and Zoila de León, Secretary of Educational Affairs.
Nova´s team won with a total of 67 votes, of a total of 107 votes deposited. The other participating team of journalists, headed by Ana Gómez, received 38 votes.
Attorney.notary Neftalí Hernández, certified the legitimacy of the voting process. Journalists Miguelina Santos, President; Lady Reyes, Gisela Mera, Orlando Jerez and Heliana Medina were in charge of the electoral process.
Nova and her team expressed their appreciation for the support they received, and highlighted their satisfaction for the support received during the process. In brief remarks, she encouraged past and present Association members to come together to work and strengthen the organization.
At the same, the current Association president, Rosa Arredondo, also thanked all those who participated in the campaign and electoral process.
