Santo Domingo, November 18, 2019 – Just a few days from officially launching the Christmas Season Acropolis Mall – one of Santo Domingo’s most fashionable shopping center and situated in the very heart of the capital city – organizers of the annual Jazz Nights at Acropolis have put together this year’s traditional jazz concerts. In total, the traditional December program will sponsor three great concerts featuring Jazz, Blues and much more!
The concert dates will be on Wednesdays, and the dates will be December 4, 11 and 18. It is truly a magical way of bringing together the wonderful tradition of jazz and Christmas in the Dominican Republic.
Acropolis Center and “Jazz en Dominicana” came together in August 2017 where both groups formed an alliance to present “Jazz Nights at Acropolis” every Wednesday. The concerts take place at the Plaza’s Central Hall, where an enthusiastic audience comes together to enjoy the concert scheduled for that particular evening.
Ingrid Martinez, a devoted fan. explained her fascination with the Jazz Nights: ¨Jazz Nights has been the WAO part of my Wednesdays. It’s a boost for me, especially after a long day at work. It is an inviting environment, where the audience enjoys an incredible atmosphere that features the best jazz. The most common thread is that we all enjoy good music. The musicians that present their work leave you with the sense of wanting more and moreeee!
Wednesday, December 4: UNPHU Ensemble – “It’s Beginning to Look Like Christmas!
On this particular concert, the top students from UNPHU University’s School of Music will present an evening of Christmas traditional tunes, as well as top jazz pieces. The concert promises to be an eye-opener, where those in attendance will be able to appreciate the young talent that is working to substitute their professors and favorite musicians.
Wednesday, December 11: Eddy Alba – Swingin´ the Rock for Christmas
Eddy Alba & Friends will reinvent tunes known by all. Crooners will interpret Christmas melodies such as Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, Jingle Bells, Santa Claus is Coming to Town…and rock with a swing style: Jump by Van Halen, Smells Like Teen Spirit, by Nirvana, and others from Pet Shop Boys, U2 and even The Police. Swingin´ the Rock for Christmas …This concert promises to be something completely out of the ordinary!
Wednesday, December 18: Joel Rosario Quintet.
This last concert will begin with Christmas tunes with a singular jazz rhythm. The night will end with a special repertoire presented by sax great Joel Rosario. The evening promises to motivate guests to dance to the live Christmas and jazz tunes presented.
Concerts begin at 6:00 p.m. every Wednesday during December.
All concerts are open to the general public and are completely free!
