Indotel to Install Free Wireless Internet in Sosúa José Rafael Vargas, president of the Dominican Telecommunications Institute (Indotel), announced the installation of a modern wireless network system that will offer Internet service free of charge to inhabitants of the tourism area of Sosúa in Puerto Plata in the upcoming two months. Dr. Vargas explained, through an Indotel press release, that the network will be available from schools, parks or in peoples’ homes within the one kilometer radius of the point of installation of the operating bases. Vargas added that he has instructed Óscar Melgen, manager of the Telecommunications Development Fund, to begin the wireless installation immediately with the goal of having the project up and running within 60 days. Vargas made this announcement while attending the inauguration of the new computer section of the Paul Harris Municipal Library. The new section of the library, that boasts 15 computers, was built with support of the local syndicate office, the Rotary Club and other community organizations.
