Project to Make Forming Companies Easier

The National Council for Competition (CNC), the Office of Industrial Property and the Presidency of Information Technology have united their efforts with the Federation Chamber of Commerce and Production to implement the System of Unified and Integral Attention for the Formation of Businesses in various provinces in the country. This mechanism is meant to allow the creation of companies through the Internet without having to visit public or private institutions in charge of these transactions.

According to a CNC press release, this decision forms part of an agreement signed by Andrés van der Horst Álvarez, executive director of the Council for Competition, Domingo Tavárez, director general of OPTIC, Enríque Ramírez, director general of ONAPI and Elvy Abreu, vice-president of FEDOCAMARAS.

Oliverio Espaillat, president of the Santiago Chamber of Commerce, said that this technological tool will improve competition in the country in a real and practical way.

“I congratulate the Council for Competition because this project will have an important impact on the process of making our nation more competitive in the face of free trade,” said the businessman.

Andrés van der Horst Álvarez added that this system will strengthen the commerce chambers so that they will be able to better confront the commercial opening. “This is not a new invention, we have been working like this for two years in an effort to make these changes a reality to improve the business climate,” he said.

The agreement stipulates that FEDOCAMARAS is committed to identify the Chambers of Commerce and Production which, with their absorption and use of technology and flow of registered merchandise, are in a situation in which they can implement this new system.

It also establishes that the Council for Competition and Presidency of Information Technology and Communication will have to make sure that the Chambers of Commerce elected for the implementation have the necessary technological equipment to offer this service. In addition, both public entities are committed to train personnel to be in charge of the management tools, such as the development of necessary technological applications.

In the meantime, the Office of Industrial Property should facilitate and guarantee the operability and interconnectedness of the technology platforms with the infrastructure and technology platforms of the Chambers of Commerce and Production that are appropriated for the implementation of the System of Unified and Integral Attention for the Formation of Businesses.

For a period of 30 days, OPTIC and the CNC will do an evaluation then report their findings in which they will specify that the chosen Chambers have the required technology and necessary operatives to implement the system. The agreement establishes that FEDOCAMARAS must guarantee the cooperation of the different Chambers of Commerce and Production with the technicians who carry out the evaluation of technological requirements and the operatives who will implement the system.
