Renewable Energy Decree Goes into Effect

Dominican President Leonel Fernández decreed into law the Application Regulation of the Renewable Energy Sources Development Incentive Law Number 57-07.


This judicial resolution will open the door to a new system in terms of the development of renewable energy in the Dominican Republic that will lower the amount of resources spent on oil while also protecting the environment.


The Regulation of the Law of Renewable Energy underwent analysis by a commission of technical and legal experts from the National Energy Commission (CNE), the Ministry of Industry and Commerce (SEIC), the Dominican Corporation of Electric Companies (CDEEE), the Ministry of Economy, Planning and Development, the Superintendant of Electricity (SIE), the Coordinator Organism (OC) and the Judicial Consultancy of the Executive Office, according to a communiqué from the President’s office.

The Project also has had the technical support of the National Energy Commission of Spain, a leading organization in energy research and development worldwide.

This judicial resolution will open the door to a new system in terms of the development of renewable energy in the Dominican Republic that will lower the amount of resources spent on oil while also protecting the environment.
