On Wednesday, Dominican President Leonel Fernández greeted new Ambassadors from Colombia, South Korea, Bulgaria and Guatemala in a ceremony at the Ambassadors Hall of the National Palace.


President Fernández was accompanied at the ceremony by Dominican Foreign Minister and Deputy Foreign Minister Carlos Morales Troncoso and José Manuel Trullols, respectively.


The first to be received by President Fernández was the South Korean Ambassador Kang Sung-Zu who studied Latin Affairs at Seoul University and Spanish-American literature at the University of San Marcos in Lima Peru. As a diplomat, he has held various positions among which were in South Korean Embassies in Chile, Peru as well as Atlanta, Georgia in the United States.

Moments later, the Head of State received the official credential letters and greetings from the diplomatic representative of Colombia, Juan José Chaux Mosquera, a law school graduate of the Javeriana Pontifical University. Mr. Chaux Mosquera, who speaks Spanish, English and French, was a Colombian Senator and the governor of the state of Cauca.

The new Ambassador from Bulgaria, Tchavdar Mladenov Nikolov who has a great deal of experience in international relations, also presented his credentials to President Fernández. Mr. Nikolov holds a Masters Degree in International Relations and has occupied various public offices in Bulgaria including the assistant Director of the Consular Department of the Foreign Ministry. He has been Ambassador to Brazil and Consul General in Toronto, Canada.

President Leonel Fernández also received the diplomatic credentials from Mr. Giovanny René Castillo Polanco, the new Ambassador from Guatemala who has a 20-year diplomatic career. Mr. Castillo Polanco holds a Political Science Degree from the Francisco Marroquin University and the Andrés Bello Diplomatic Academy of Chile.

President Fernández was accompanied at the ceremony by Dominican Foreign Minister and Deputy Foreign Minister Carlos Morales Troncoso and José Manuel Trullols, respectively.
