16th General Assembly of Association of Latin American Public Ministers Held in Punta Cana

Dominican President Leonel Fernández inaugurated the 16th General Assembly of the Association of Latin American Public Ministers (AIAMP) being held in Punta Cana. Members of AIAMP will discuss “Victims, Witnesses and Social Cohesion.” The meeting, which will end on Thursday, will be headed by the Attorney General of Spain, Cándido Conde-Pumpido, President of AIAMP and Paraguay’s Attorney General Rubén Candía Amarilla who is Vice-President of the organization, according to the Dominican Attorney General’s office.

The General Assembly of the AIAMP includes a Latin American seminar on the strategic penal prosecution as well as the presentation of future projects…

The meeting brings together more than 35 countries from the American continent, Spain and Portugal and will draw up a report of the activities of the Latin American Institute of Attorneys General and Public Prosecutors including the relative conclusions of a study on the contribution of the attorneys’ offices to social cohesion.

The General Assembly of the AIAMP includes a Latin American seminar on the strategic penal prosecution as well as the presentation of future projects, according to a press release from the Dominican Attorney General’s Office. As part of the Assembly’s program, the first ever Latin American seminar on “Public Ministry and Experiences in Penal Persecution Strategy in the face of the New Processing Model.”

The AIAMP is a non-profit entity made up of Public Ministries (Attorneys General or Public Prosecutors) from all over Latin America.

Since its founding in Brazil in 1954, the AIAMP has garnered support for the establishment of a law within the penal process that prioritizes the prosecution of organized crime.
