Tourism Ministry Makes Films About Most Fascinating Places and Music in the DR The Ministry of Tourism (SECTUR) will show its documentary films, “Caribbean Treasures” and “Images and Music of the Dominican Republic ” around the country and abroad. The two films feature the best music and the most beautiful places in the DR. “We are making thousands of these types of graphic and musical documentaries about the Dominican Republic because we know that music is probably, and especially these films, the best way for us to promote the country,” Minister of Tourism, Félix Jiménez, said both films will be shown on a huge screen in various places around the country and especially in the towns located in the tourism zones. They will also be distributed internationally to all travel agencies of the 25 countries where Dominican tourism plays a major role among those nations’ travelers. The theme music of “Caribbean Treasures” features songs from such masters as Bienvenido Bustamante, José Dolores Cerón, Luis MENA, Julio Alberto Hernández and José Antonio Molina, whose themes are interpreted by the London Symphony Orchestra with the international participation of Paquito D Rivera. “Images and Music of the Dominican Republic ” brings us Merengues and Boleros played and sung by artists who form part of our musical culture such as Rafael Landestoy, Luis Rivera, Toño Abréu, Rafael Solano, Papa Molina, Armando Cabrera and Juan Lockward, with the participation of the Miami Latin Pops Orchestra, Gonzalo Rubalcaba, Arturo Sandoval and Ed Calle. This film, in DVD format, enjoys the seal of quality as it was made by music producer José Antonio Molina and Juan Basanta as audiovisual producer. The films will be shown locally on 30 giant screens located in various public places such as parks and plazas and in venues like Chinatown, Plaza España and Enriquillo Park in Santo Domingo , the Monument to the Heroes of the Restoration in Santiago , the Plaza of the Higuey Basilica and local parks in towns all over the country. “We are making thousands of these types of graphic and musical documentaries about the Dominican Republic because we know that music is probably, and especially these films, the best way for us to promote the country,” said the Minister of Tourism. The background music for these films is being provided by Larimar and Ámbar Productions. They were produced by Staff S.A. Agency and edited on to DVD format.
