Tourism Ministry and Hotels to Offer the Best of the Dominican Republic in Paris
The Tourism Ministry (SECTUR) and a large part of the hotel sector will be offering the best of the Dominican Republic in three upcoming activities connected to one of the most important gatherings of tour operators, travel agents, airlines and tourism professional to be held in Paris, France.
The events, Dominican Gastronomy Week, at the UN’s Education, Science and Culture Organization (UNESCO), a workshop in the Eiffel Tower and the International French Travel Market (IFTM/TOP RESA 2009).

The Dominican delegation representing the country at these activities will be led by Tourism Minister Francisco Javier García and comprised of the president of the National Association of Hotels and Restaurants, (ASONAHORES) Haydee Kuret de Rainieri; Dominican hotel chains, travel agents, tour operators, members of the Dominican Association of Travel Writers (ADOMPRETUR) and other media.
The activities begin with Dominican Gastronomy Week at UNESCO on September 15th and end on the 18th with a Gala Dinner to be attended by Mr. García Fernández, the Dominican delegation at UNESCO and the Dominican Embassy in France, in addition to other special guests who will travel to France.
Six chefs, including SECTUR’s Special Chef Esperanza Lithgow, and five chefs from the Dominican Chefs Association will represent the country.
Later on September 21, the Dominican delegation will participate in a workshop to be held on the second level of the Eiffel Tower. In addition to SECTUR, participants include Connect Travel Services, Casa de Campo, Caballo Tours, Ect Events and Meeting, Meliá Caribe Tropical, Colonial Tours and Travel, Hotel Beds, Majestic, Viva Wyndham Resort, Occidental Hotels and Resorts and Turmaya, in collaboration with Air France.
September 22nd to 25th, the delegation will participate in the 31st edition of Top-Resa, the most important tourism fair in Paris where an estimated 26,000 professionals are expected to attend from all over the world as well as 1,500 exhibitors, 900 reporters and more than 200 travel writers.

Top-Resa will take place at Porte de Versailles in a 43,000 square meter exhibition area. The DR will have a 200 square meter area that will simulate an island right at the entrance of the pavilion.
