The Dominican Civil Aviation Institute (IDAC in Spanish) is calling for entries to participate in an essay-writing contest on the topic: “Challenges Facing Civil Aviation in the XXI Century.”


The Editorial Committee, coordinated by the Secretary of State and Director General of the Institution, Alejandro Herrera, decided to make the call for entries public as a way of receiving research contributions on this important topic.

At a meeting held in the headquarters of IDAC, the Editorial Committee dealt with this topic and various others, and ordered the immediate production of a poster to publicize the essay-writing contest.


Likewise, they ordered the publication of the contest rules and regulations. They are expecting a large number of entries among researchers, intellectuals, communicators and media, historians and people with research experience connected to this sector.


The winner of the contest will receive a cash prize of over $100,000 pesos as well as the honor of having their essay published.


In addition to authorizing the essay-writing contest, the Editorial Committee decided to print Law 491-06 which oversees the legal constitution of IDAC and regulates civil aviation in the Dominican Republic.


Also, the general outline of a book to be done under the auspices of IDAC’s Editorial Committee was presented at the meeting. The book is a history of civil aviation in the Dominican Republic.


The Editorial Committee was formed through a resolution of the current management of IDAC which is made up of departmental directors and advisors of the General Directorate of Public Relations.
