Environment Ministry and National Council on Private Enterprise Hold Meeting Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic 10/7/2011
The Minister of Environment and Natural Resources, Ernesto Reyna Alcántara, recently held a meeting with the National Council on Private Enterprise (CONEP in Spanish) to discuss issues facing the business sector in the area of environmental legislation.

Minister Reyna Alcántara listened to the concerns expressed by the business people and explained to them the Ministry’s new environmental proposals. They agreed to analyze the norms and regulations related to the interests of the business people.
This analysis will be done in a workshop to be given by members of CONEP so that they can become familiar with the details of the different processes needed to seek and receive legal fees and permissions established under the environmental licensing laws.
Mr. Ernesto Reyna Alcántara has been meeting with different business groups and sectors in Santiago as well as Santo Domingo as a way of explaining and dealing with issues related to the environment and to make the process of obtaining permissions and licenses as uncomplicated as possible for the business sector. He is explaining the norms and regulations that are now in effect.
Reyna Alcántara took the opportunity of the CONEP visit to urge its members to sign up their businesses and companies to be part of the various reforestation programs going on around the country in preparation for Reforestation Month. He also expressed that in order to achieve their goal of planting 2 million trees, they are going to need the involvement of all sectors of society.
