Learn about the man who has made a splash across oceans, connecting continents, and making a difference in vulnerable communities. Through the online platform, yonadoconmarcos.com, Marcos invited the world to join him on his journey to swim to all five continents, demonstrating that the distance that divides us is closer than we imagine.. Recognizing that the world was falling short of meeting the commitments established in the year 2000, in 2010, Marcos Díaz partnered with the United Nations to launch the campaign, “Swim Across the Continents,” to raise global awareness of the Millennium Development Goals. Through the online platform, yonadoconmarcos.com, Marcos invited the world to join him on his journey to swim to all five continents, demonstrating that the distance that divides us is closer than we imagine. Over the course of his quest, Marcos encouraged athletes, musicians, activists, politicians, media affiliates, businesses and the general public to get involved and demand that our leaders fulfill their promises by 2015. The “Swim Across the Continents” campaign has been described as the most successful to promote the MDGs to date. Discover how this incredible journey has inspired the global community to demand change and put the MDGs on the world stage.
