Claudia Madera in “Shared Luggage” Exhibition in Puerto Rico Claudia Madera is a Dominican artist who loves to be surrounded by nature. She is passionate about working with the human figure and is inspired by people around her, nd particularly focusing on interpersonal relationships such as love and all that it implies. This exhibition opened, with great success, on June 14 at the Guatíbiri Gallery in Río Piedras, Puerto Rico and will close on July 4, 2012. At the age of 20 she had the privilege of receiving her art education at the Altos de Chavón School of Design. Upon completing her two years at Chavón, she graduated with honors from the Fine Arts Institute in Drawing and Illustration then went on, with a scholarship, to the Parsons New School of Design in New York. In 2011, she graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Illustration. The materials most frequently used by Claudia Madera in her work include oil and acrylic paints, graphite, charcoal and sanguine on wood, paper or canvas. Her piece in the “Shared Luggage” exhibition in Puerto Rico is called “Mami Wata binti.” The exhibition is a group show involving the ColeActivo – Movement of Multidisciplinary Artists in which Claudia is a participant. The group includes artists from such countries as Puerto Rico, Guadalupe and the United States. This group of contemporary artists banned together and join forces with the idea of exchanging their creative visions which are the roots and cultural wealth acquired through time in the customs observed in their homelands. This exhibition opened, with great success, on June 14 at the Guatíbiri Gallery in Río Piedras, Puerto Rico and will close on July 4, 2012. Claudia, the ColeActivo and the other international artists invite you to their next presentation, which will take place in the Dominican Republic on August 9, 2012 at the Cupola Hall of the National Fine Arts Gallery.
