Educational Tourism Office and Ministry of Youth announce “EDUEXPO 2012”

The event will be held from 14 to 16 November at the Dominican Fiesta Hotel with the participation of national and international universities.

“EDUEXPO 2012” aims to guide students by giving them a chance to learn about what is available at many academic institutions by comparing curriculums, teaching methodology and logistics at each entity in order to decide on the one that is best for them.

The Dominican Office for the Promotion of Educational Tourism (ODTE in Spanish) in conjunction with the Ministry of Youth announced “EDUEXPO 2012”, the fair that will bring together national and international educational institutions and universities at the Dominican Fiesta Hotel in November. The information was provided by the Organizing Committee in an exclusive meeting with the press at the Mitre Restaurant.

“EDUEXPO 2012” aims to guide students by giving them a chance to learn about what is available at many academic institutions by comparing curriculums, teaching methodology and logistics at each entity in order to decide on the one that is best for them.

“We are excited to deliver a new EDUEXPO event. We firmly believe that this is one of the country’s leading educational activities that links students and professionals as well as the whole sector in a common goal: the pursuit of knowledge and excellence,” said Jean Paul Santoni, President of the ODTE.

National universities participating in the event include the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD), Ibero-American University (UNIBE), PontificiaMadre y MaestroCatholic University(PUCMM), APEC University (UNAPEC), Pedro EnríquezUreñaNational University (UNPHU) , Central University of the East (UCE), Technological Institute of Santo Domingo (INTEC), National Evangelical University (UNEV) and University of Organization and Methods (O&M), among other educational institutions that will join the event.

In turn, the fair will involve international universities including the Florida Institute of Technology (FIT), European of Institute Design (IED), English Language Center (ELS), Seneca College, Northwood University, Johnson and Wales University, Fanshawe College, SCAD, MarangoniInstitute, La Salle College and others.

This educational meetingwill lastthree days. Themorning schedulewill targetjunior and senior high school students while the afternoon hours will be for graduate and master’s level students.

This event aims to encourage young people’s interest in pursuing a university degree while working on strengthening their skills in areas suchas confidence, verbaland bodily expression, structuring of ideas,critical listening and critical thinking with the realization of the first youth debate among students from participating high schools to expose them to informed decision making about each of the options presented.

The meeting was attended by the organizing team headed by ODTE President Jean Paul Santoni, EDUEXPO Manager Mariela Peña, Minister of Youth Jorge Minaya, and Ministry of Youth Directorof Planning Jorge Juan Feliz Pacheco.
