Culture launches Aisha Syed’s Latin Passion Musicians, artists and large crowds enthusiastically attended the debut of the musical production “Latin Passion”, by virtuoso violinist Aisha Syed.The event took place at the La Rotonda de Bellas Artes hall, and was organized by the Ministry of Culture, the Department of Fine Arts and the Filarmonía Foundation. During his brief opening remarks, Minister Rodríguez hailed with much enthusiasm the national and international successes achieved by Aisha Syed. Singer and songwriter José Antonio Rodríguez, Minister of Culture, led the ceremony, together with the director of Fine Arts, Franklin Domínguez; Salvador Espinal, from the FilarmoníaFoundation; and Dominican artistAisha Syed. Attendees included Maridalia Hernández; Maestro Caonex Peguero; and Pedro Núñez del Risco, from the Department of Events at the Ministry of Culture. Latin Passion includes a selection of the best Latin American classical compositions for violin by Julio Alberto Hernández (My First Kiss), Astor Piazzolla (The Great Tango), Manuel Falla (Spanish Dance), and Pablo de Sarasate (Zapateado). During his brief opening remarks, Minister Rodríguez hailed with much enthusiasm the national and international successes achieved by Aisha Syed. He said that he was pleased that Aisha’sproductionincluded Dominican music. “No one is better suited than you to speak, think and defend what we are; no one better than you can express, through the violin, what we, Dominicans, are” he said. He urgedthose present to continue raising the quality of music, adding that culture has a responsibility toward the beautiful work that is being accomplishedby the artist. In turn, Franklin Domínguez said that it was a great honor that the facilities of Fine Arts could be used for the release of the CD, despite the institution’s tight schedule. Its director, Marianne de Tolentino, was pleased to organizethe event. Salvador Espinal said that the talents and skills that God bestows on people should be put at the service of the great majority, so that they can be enjoyed to the fullest. He stressed that Aisha has worked with passion and effort, helping compositions by national and international great masters to become known. He asked that support for established artists be increased. Aisha delighted the audience by playing: The First Kiss, by Julio Alberto Hernández;La Campanellaby Pagganini,and the musical composition Lucia. |
