The Museum of Modern Art will host five exhibitions as part of its broad artistic program organized for the XVI International Book Fair Santo Domingo 2013, under the coordination of the Ministry of Culture and the Book Fair Directorate.


The Art Show will be inaugurated on April 24 at 7 PM on the second floor of the Modern Museum.


The Art Show will be inaugurated on April 24 at 7 PM on the second floor of the Modern Museum. The show is called “Cifuentes: And Yet it Moves” by Ecuadoran photographer Diego Cifuentes, who shares his love of photography with experimental film.


There will also be a simultaneous opening of a group show, “Illustrious Illustrators,” in which Ecuador’s most important illustrators will take part.


At the same time, “Status Quo,” a videography show of twenty contemporary Dominican artists is also opening. Participants in this show include:TomásPichardo, Joery Santos, Jen Gamundy& Candy Pichardo, Juan Carlos Guzmán, Francisco (Pancho) Rodríguez, Marcos Lora Read, Elvin Díaz, Citlally Miranda, RaúlMorilla, Limber Vilorio, Stephanie Marie Jiménez, Guadalupe Casasnovas, Alina Landry-Rancier, Carlos Acero, JoiriMinaya, Alfonsina Sterling, Engel Leonardo, José Pión, QuisqueyaHenríquez and Ignacio Alcántara.


On Saturday the 27th at 7 PM, Miguelina Rivera’s “Traces”is opening. Rivera is an award winning Dominican artist who won the Exhibitor’s Award of the 1st International Triennial of the Caribbean for Contemporary Dominican art. She will be showing her paintings, drawings, sculptures and installations.


On the same day, photography lovers will be pleased to attend “A Book Called Song: Photographs by Daniel Mordzinski” in which French-Argentine artist living in Paris, pays tribute to musicians from around the world from the Greek Teodorakis, whose transformation was turned into a cantata in Pablo Neruda’s “Canto General”and Spain’s Joaquín Sabina.


The International Book Fair of Santo Domingo is the main cultural event of the Caribbean, held annually and organized by the Ministry of Culture. It is being held in Juan Pablo Duarte Culture Plaza from April 22 to May 5.


The various shows and exhibitions are open to the public throughout the International Book Fair in the Museum of Modern Art of the Dominican Republic on Pedro HenríquezUreña Ave, Juan Pablo Duarte Culture Plaza. The hours from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Starting on May 5, the hours are 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Tuesday through Sunday.
