Discover Puerto Plata Symbol Rolled Out at Opening of Tourism Fair Amid the celebration of the Second Discover Puerto Plata MarketPlace Fair, the Puerto Plata Tourism Cluster presented the symbol that will soon represent this destination on the Northern Coast of the Dominican Republic. The full color version of the logo consists of a striking design based on four colors (blue, fuchsia, yellow and green) which represent the flora, fauna, sea and festive ambience of the province. “Puerto Plata” is the name that was chosen for the logo of the initiative designed by American company MMGY Global and developed with the help of the Dominican Republic’s Tourism Ministry. The idea is to project the image of a modern, unified and diversified tourism offering in a place also known as the “Bride of the Atlantic.” With this new marketing tool, the province’s tourism sector is seeking an international market through the promotion of its natural resources, historical significance and the region’s possibility for adventure. The idea behind the name was selected thanks to surveys, interviews and other research methods geared towarddetermining how visitors of Puerto Plata perceive the location and its people. Also released during the ceremony was how the logo takes the letter “o,” from the work “Puerto,” and makes it look like the Sun; at the same time it ncludes the arrows of a compass pointing in the cardinal directions, inviting visitors to explore the area in all its directions. The results found by MMGY Global Consultancy describe Puerto Plata as ideal for those who seek tourism for experience and adventurebecause Puerto Plata has a unique background, a long history and a rich culture that inspires its visitors to expand their horizons and enjoy their passions to the max.
