Cristo Rey Proposed for 4 Nominations to the Platinum Film Awards in Panama ADOCINE forwards the applications to Awards organizers Candidates are presented to ADOCINE who, in turn, submits the nominations to the organizers of those productions that are deemed appropriate to compete in the categories that stand out the most. Cristo Rey is proposed in the Fiction Film category. Leonardo Vasquez, who played the role of “Big Mato,” is being proposed for the Best Actor category. Also, the film Director, Leticia Tonos, is being proposed in the Best Director and Best Screenplay categories. These proposals will be evaluated for nominations and awards starting in February, 2014, by international judges, along with the entries from other 21 Ibero-American countries. The movie Cristo Rey was released last December 25th in Santo Domingo. The leading roles were played by James Saintil “Janvier,” Akari Endo “Jocelyn,” and Yasser Michelén “Rudy”. The drama tells the story of two half-brothers, one Haitian and one Dominican who clash over the love of the same woman. Janvier, of Haitian origin, is forced to work for the El Baca gang, the Cristo Rey drug lord. Janvier’s work is to look after the gangster’s younger sister. Rudy, of Dominican origin and Jocelyn’s former boyfriend, does not welcome the fact that his half-brother is spending so much time with the girl and decides to win her back at all costs. Janvier and Jocelyn, madly in love with each other and without any future at Cristo Rey, decide to run away together.
