OSN Concludes Successfully Educational Concerts Season T he Educational Concerts Season of the National Symphony Orchestra (OSN) came to a close under the masterful direction of Maestro Santy Rodríguez and the performance of three new musicians. The event was sponsored by the Ministry of Culture. The following musicians participated in it: Juan Carlos Martínez (clarinet), Alfredo Luzón and Charlie Rafael Fermín (violin). For Maestro José Antonio Molina, Director of the National Symphony Orchestra, “this season was wonderful, because we are sowing the seeds in the large audience of the future. I am fascinated with the fact that children can appreciate and learn about classical music”. During the closing of the Educational Concert Season, Santy Rodríguez explained to the children and youth who attended the concert at the MINC Enriquillo Sánchez Auditorium, which are the instruments that make up the OSN and the functions they perform. The symphonic program consisted of dance pieces of the comedies “The Bartered Bride” (Bedrich Smetana); West Side Story, selections (Leonard Bernstein); Navarra, for two violins and orchestra (Pablo Sarasate); Sabre Dance of the “Gayaneh” Suite (Aram Khachaturiam); William Tell Overture (Giacomo Rossini); and, Concerto in A for Clarinet and Orchestra, and Symphony No. 40 in G minor (Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart). The artistic presentation was attended by students of various schools, such as the Loyola School, Decroly, King Christian School, Don Bosco, Amiguitos de Jesús, Vivi Preschool, Santo Domingo Sabio Home School, Saint Patrick, Gregorio Hernández School, Cuoleni, and, Dios es amor (God is love) school. |
