First Stories of the Environment national competition opens The Office of the Vice President of the Republic, through the Community Technology Centers (CTCs), issued the call to participate in the first Stories of the Environment competition, which promotes the care for the environment and the importance of recycling. It also promotes healthy life styles, and human, social and cultural values. The call is aimed at children and young people between the ages of six (6) and 17, who study in public schools located where the CTCs operate, and who, through the writing of stories, will have the opportunity to develop an individual and collective awareness regarding the care and preservation of the environment. November 21st is the deadline for young people to submit to the nearest CTC a story containing a maximum of 50 pages and a minimum of five pages, on issues such as the importance of recycling, saving electricity, climate change, renewable energy, sustainability or the preservation of natural resources, a healthy lifestyle, and moral values, among others. Those interested in participating will receive access to all the technological and physical facilities offered by the CTCs, so that they can research and write their stories. The winner of the first place will receive an electronic tablet as a gift; the second place will receive a collection of children’s or youth’s books, while the third place will receive books in physical and digital formats. The winning entries will be published in the website of the Office of the Vice President of the Republic. How to submit the entries Participants should send two (02) printed originals, bound and stapled, as well as a copy in digital or electronic format. Original entries should be submitted in a sealed envelope to the nearest CTC, clearly labeled: CTC Competition: Stories on the Environment. Each copy must be signed with a pseudonym. In addition, another sealed envelope (labeled with the title of the story and the author’s pseudonym), must contain the author’s name and surname, address, telephone number and email, accompanied by a copy of a photo ID, the authorization of the parents or guardians to participate in the competition and the agreement that, in case the entry wins, the author’s story will be published by the CTC. A letter from the school indicating the education level of the contestant must also be included. Furthermore, the same envelope must contain a written statement declaring that the submitted story is original and unpublished, that it has not received any awards in previous competitions, and that it has no pending ruling in other competitions; that the author has all the rights inherent to using the story and that, therefore, no limitation or commitment with any publisher exists. Children and youth between the ages of six (6) and 17 can participate. They will have the opportunity to develop an individual and collective awareness regarding the care and preservation of the environment. Diectorate of Communication |
