The Children Carnival Will Be Led by The Queeen, Tía Nancy, And The King, Huguito Chávez Santo Domingo, February 23rd, 2015
On Sunday, March 1st, the Children Carnival Parade 2015 will be held, starting at 10 am, on Ave. George Washington, hours before the National Carnival Parade.
The parade will be led by two popular children characters, Tía Nancy and Huguito Chávez Baldera, who guarantee a joyful and enthusiastic participation and entertainment.
“Because the children population represents the happiness and joyfulness of the family, children entertainers Tía Nancy and Huguito Chávez Baldera were crowned, unanimously by the organizing committee of the Carnival 2015, as the Queen and the King of the Children Carnival Parade,” said the Minister of Culture, José Antonio Rodríguez, during the crowning ceremony that was recently held at the headquarters of the MINC.
Likewise, when the adult parade starts at 2 pm, artists Miriam Cruz and Eddy Herrera, the Queen and the King of the Adult Carnival Parade, guarantee to make it a more exciting event.
Tía Nancy and Huguito agree that, during their participation aboard the children’s float, they will share their honor of being Queen and King of the Carnival with the merriments of all the attendees.
At the time of her coronation, Tía Nancy said that she felt greatly pleased and grateful to the Ministry of Culture for her designation as the Queen of the Children Carnival, and that she dedicated it to her deceased mother, Mrs. Silvia.
She said she received the title of Queen as a token of appreciation for her work on behalf of the healthy entertainment of the country’s children and adolescents.
Floats and dance companies classified in historic, traditional, fantasy, individual, popular creativity, devils and Ali Baba categories, representing the provinces of Santo Domingo North and East, and the National District, will participate in the parade.
The Children Carnival Parade 2015 is scheduled for Sunday, March 1st, at 10 am. The parade will begin at the Malecón Mall and will end at the Macho Obelisk.
For his part, Huguito Chávez Baldera, at the time of his election as the King of the Carnival, was described as a great lover of the carnival festivities, because he has always followed the children’s kings and queens in previous years.
“I feel very proud of being the first child chosen to disseminate messages related to the month of the homeland in my country,” highlighted Huguito.
For Huguito it will be a great experience to share the Carnival stage with Tía Nancy, whom he described as a woman who always has a smile and a song to entertain and cheer up children.
The Children Carnival agenda includes the participation of 100 dancing companies, among which are: The African roots, Los aéreos of the Dominican Air Force, the traditional Róbalagallina, The Dominican Tiznao, the traditional Califé, and The Children Galleros, among other Carnival attractions.
The following provinces will be represented and will participate: Puerto Plata, San Pedro de Macoris, San Juan de la Maguana, Bayaguana, Baní, Boca Chica, Puerto Plata, Barahona, Guerra, Duvergé, San Cristóbal, Cotuí, Dajabón, Bonao and Nizao.
