Juan Carlos Morales Plá is preparing for a new Atlantic challenge. On this occasion he will undertake his second long-distance swim in the open waters off the coast of Puerto Plata. He will swim with Ricardo Strauss.

The swim will take place on July 5th at the Puerto Plata Swimming Club beginning on Bergantin Beach with their final goal being Camacho Beach along the malecón, or water front promenade, where the public can meet and greet them.

Morales Pla said this event will be dedicated to former Dominican ultra-long-distance swimmer Marcos Díaz, who has been a great inspiration as an athlete and has promoted swimming as a sport in this province.

“We are once again inviting the entire community of Puerto Plata to join us in this new adventure. We would love to see families show up at 10:30 in the morning to support us and to enjoy this activity in this magical place along the Northern Coast.”

On November 29th of last year, Juan Carlos Morales Plá successfully managed the “solidarity trip” in 5 hours and 56 minutes, covering a distance of 16.9 kilometers of continuous swimming from Charamicos de Sosúa Beach to El Pueblito Puerto Plata, thus becoming the second swimmer to achieve this long distance swim in the waters of the Atlantic Ocean.
