Socially responsible companies should work together to take actions that contribute to the protection of the Dominican Republic’s environment and natural resources, as a way to preserving life and “our natural habitat.”

Pedro Jiménez, Sustainability Manager at the company Timberland, made the aforementioned statement during an event in which, he, together with employees of the Vans brand and the Sun Jade group, collected seeds, prepared bags with soil for planting, collected garbage and removed weeds and invasive species at the Las Lagunas Ecological Park.

For an entire day, over 150 employees, partners and family members of the above-mentioned companies, worked to protect the environment and nature at the Las Lagunas Ecological Park, located in the community of Villa González.

“Because of the severe drought affecting the country, it is important to join forces to contribute what we can, and to cooperate with nature, so that, together, we promote positive and encouraging changes throughout our entire habitat,” said Jiménez.

These activities were carried out at the Las Lagunas Ecological Park in Villa González, a green lung of the Santiago region, with over 250 tasks and a natural environment that encompasses a variety of species of our fauna and flora.

Jiménez, Sustainability Manager (CSR), said that these corporate social responsibility activities seek to move towards greater integration “with the communities and interest groups pursuing a joint effort to create positive impacts on the environment.”

The SUN JADE executives were accompanied at the event by their coworkers, who brought their families, including children, and everyone enjoyed the park’s natural environment, gathering seeds, preparing bags with soil for planting, collecting trash and removing weeds and invasive species.

In turn, Mr. Hui-Jen Lan, SJD Deputy General Manager, welcomed the work that was carried out, and said that he hoped “to continue supporting initiatives such as this one, along with all his partners and associates.”

He spoke on behalf of all the executives of the Asian group, Mr. José Lin, Wang An Hong, Li Lin, Liu Nian Dong, Iro Chiu, Wei Wan Weng, Tran Thi Phoung, Lan Hui Jen, Ulises Polanco and Todd Hewitt, from the HR, manufacturing and quality departments.
