“Modernidad y Contemporaneidad en el Arte Dominicano” Starts in Santiago de Compostela, Spain, in 2016 The DGA’s Foundation for Cultural Heritage, in coordination with the Eugenio Granell Foundation of Santiago de Compostela, will open the travelling exhibition “Modernidad y Contemporaneidad en el Arte Dominicano: obras de la Dirección General de Aduanas,” on January 28, 2016, in Spain. On this occasion, the stage for this exhibition will be the Eugenio Granell Foundation, located in the Praza do Toural, 8, 15705, Santiago de Compostela, La Coruña, Spain. The exhibition will comprise some 40 works from the collection of the Directorate General of Customs of the Government of the Dominican Republic. The curator of the exhibition will be María del Carmen Ossaye, and it is an initiative of the DGA’s Foundation for Cultural Heritage, which is integrated Pedro Vergés Ciman, President; Eridania Mir, Vice President; Víctor Bisonó, Treasurer; Virginia Franco and Rosa María Vicioso, members of the board; and Minerva Cocco, Katherine Cocco, Cayo Claudio Espinal, and Freddy Ginebra, members. Ossaye, who also serves as Secretary to the Foundation, said that this exhibition covers the history of Dominican art, from the modern to the contemporary. It contains artworks by artists: Josep Gausachs, Eugenio Fernández Granell, José Vela Zanetti, Antonio Prats Ventós, Paul Giudicelli, Yoryi Morel, Ramón Oviedo, José Rincón Mora, Eridania Mir, Julio Valdéz, Ada Balcácer, Elsa Núñez, Rosa Tavárez and Radhamés Mejía. In addition: Clara Ledesma, Dario Suro, Jaime Colson, Domingo Liz, Fernando Peña Defilló, Fernando Varela, Iván Tovar, Antonio Guadalupe, Sasha Tebó and Tony Capellán, among other established and contemporary artists, well-known nationally and internationally. The travelling exhibition “Modernidad y Contemporaneidad en el Arte Dominicano: Obras de la Colección de la Dirección General de Aduanas” started its tour at the AMA | the OAS’s Art Museum of the Americas, in Washington.
