La Romana and Bayahíbe

Did you know? Pereskia Quisqueyana, the national flower of the Dominican Republic, is also known as the Bayahibe Rose. It is a species of indigenous and endemic cactus that is only found in Bayahibe. This beautiful plant is almost extinct and the few remaining specimens can be seen near the Divina Pastora Church, on the steep and rocky peninsula that extends into the sea, in the center of town.
