New York, March 11, 2019 – The jury in charge of the XIV Literary Awards Letters from Abroad will announce the winners in the Poetry, Short Story and Novel categories this Saturday, March 16, 2019, at the Office of the Dominican Commissioner of Culture of the Dominican Republic’s Ministry of Culture.
The event will begin at 7:00 p.m. at the Rafael Villalona Theater, situated in the Office of the Commissioner at 541 West 145th Street (almost corner of Broadway), Second Floor, in the borough of Manhattan, New York.
“During the event the members of the jury will be announced, and the winners will be announced before a Notary Public who will certify both the names of the writers as well as the winning entries,” explained Commissioner Carlos Sánchez.
The “Letters from Abroad” literary contest brings with it a five thousand dollar award and a special certificate for each genre. The winners will also participate as Guests of Honor at the XXII International Santo Domingo Book Fair 2019. This year, the popular event will be dedicated to Puerto Rico and to Dominican writer Virgilio Díaz Grullón.”
The Commissioner of Culture invited local and international media outlets, participating writers, and all those interested in literature in general to participate in the activity.
The winning works will be published by the Editora Nacional, through its Overseas Collection, and formally presented during the Santo Domingo Book Fair 2019.
