The Fair will be open to the public from October 8-13,

Santo Domingo, September 20, 2018 – The country’s National Archive will celebrate its Fifth Dominican History Book Fair from October 8 through the 13th. This year the Fair will honor Dominican poet, novelist, archaeologist, anthropologist and essayist Marcio Veloz Maggiolo. During the event, three of his most important books will be relaunched: “De abril en adelante,” “La vida no vale nada” y “Los ángeles de hueso.”
At the same time, 17 new books and 20 special publications on research sponsored by the National Archive by national and international researchers.
The Fair’s theme this year is “The Historic Novel.” As in other years, organizers will set up kiosks to sell books, organize panels, guided visits through the National Archive, presentation of documentaries and films organized by the General Film Directorate, among other activities. All activities are open to the general public and free of charge.
The National Archive cordially invites book stores, publishing companies, educational centers, companies, students, teachers and anyone else interested in history and literature.
The goal of the Dominican History Book Fair is to highlight the country’s history, so that it reaches everyone.
Painting Contest “Paint Your History”
The National Archive also invites the general public to participate in the youth paint contest “Paint Your History” with the goal of motivating children and youth, between the ages of 10 and 15, to know their history.
The deadline to participate in the contest is October 1, and the winners will be announced on October 12 at the offices of the National Archive.
