Puerto Plata Tourism Cluster Elects New Board 2019-2021

Puerto Plata, November 21, 2019 – During the 2019 General Ordinary and Extraordinary Assembly held by the Tourism Cluster of the north coast city of Puerto Plata, the largest in the Dominican Republic’s north coast, its members chose its new Director Council for the period 2019-2021. The new members will consist of representatives from the Association of Hotels, Condominiums and Tourism Establishments of Playa Dorada, represented by its president César José de los Santos.

Cluster members also voted for the organization’s First Vice President, which will be the Association of Hotels, Restaurants and Tourism Establishments, represented by José Natalio Redondo; the Association of Hotels and Restaurants of Sosúa and Cabarete, represented by Humberto Pichardo and as secretary, Román Medina Diplan, representing the American Chamber of Commerce. The organization’s treasurer for the next period will be Patria Rodríguez, from the Chamber of Commerce and Production of Puerto Plata.

At the same time, the Cluster announced that the new directors of this new Council will be the “Fundación Visiones y Sueños,” Ocean World, “Teleférico Puerto Plata,” Brugal & Cia.; Puerto Plata’s Free Zone Sector; the Association for the Sustainable Development of Sosúa; Lifestyle Holidays Hotels and Resorts; “Fundación Atlántica;” Opetur and “Aeropuertos Dominicanos Siglo XXI” (AERODOM).

During the event Roberto Casoni, outgoing president, presented the minutes of the 2017-2019 administration, where he highlighted the advances made during this period by the Cluster at the institutional level and in strengthening the region’s tourism sector. Also, the leadership exhibited by the member institutions and the work carried out by the organization’s team.

The financial report was presented by César José de los Santos, as president of the Association of Hotels, Restaurants and Tourism Establishments of Playa Dorada, Puerto Plata’s oldest and most distinguished tourism resort.

After being sworn in as the new president, Mr. de los Santos stated his enthusiasm and promised to work for all the sectors the organization represents in the country’s north coast.
