Four Dominican Artists to Exhibit Their Works at the Dominican Cultural Commission

New York, June 6, 2018 – The exhibit, titled Four in One, will feature the works of three brothers – Tony, René and Jimmy de los Santos – and Tany Pérez, and will be presented at the Dominican Cultural Commission in the United States from June 14-29.

The Commission is a division of the Ministry of Culture of the Dominican Republic.

The exhibit opening is scheduled for Thursday, June 14, at 6:00 p.m., at the Andres Francisco Requena Showroom at the Commission’s central office, situated at 541 West 145th Street, First Floor, in Manhattan.

As explained by the artists, the Four in One exhibit will use the showroom space to highlight the work of each individual artist in one single venue.

Artist Tony de los Santos explores the paranoia of Dominicans, and ventures into the psychic realm of this Caribbean nation.  He emphasizes the culture of suspicion, fraud, and the mutual mistrust that exists among peers. His exhibit is titled CHIVORUM.

In his works artist René de los Santos’ exhibit consists of a small retrospective where the imagination, femininity and dreams all come together to dance surrounded by a myriad of colors that the artist continuously intensifies.

Both artists use surrealist techniques in their particular works.

At the same time, Tany Pérez uses the ladybug to express his philosophical views on the creation of man, society and the expansion of the universe through copulation.

His works are well thought out and beautifully executed, and where the visitor will need to study them carefully to discover the hidden narrative.

Finally, Jimmy de los Santos works with impressionist landscapes using local colors.  He also presents nocturnal scenes, with romantic and symbolist touches. The rooster, the horse-drawn carriage, a country cottage and, most important, the water element, are beautifully treated by the artist.

Cultural Commissioner Carlos Sánchez invites the general public to visit the exhibit of these “four distinguished Dominican artists who will exhibit through their works their creative needs.”
