Ministry of Culture Announces Opening of Registration Process for the 22nd Santo Domingo International Book Fair 2019

Santo Domingo, January 30, 2019 – The Dominican Ministry of Culture, through its Book Fair Directorate, announced the formal opening of the registration process of the 22nd Santo Domingo International Book Fair 2019, where national and international exhibitors will be able to participate in this impressive literary, education and cultural event.

Minister of Culture, Architect Eduardo Selman, explained during a press conference that the event is open to local and foreign publishers, universities, libraries, foundations, writers, academics, librarians, cultural activists, and other individuals and sector related to the event.

Also, cultural, private sector companies and government institutions who are in charge of projects, programs or initiatives involving the publication and development of books and/or encourage reading-related activities. Also, international organizations and embassies. The registration deadline is Monday, March 11, 2019.

The Book Fair will take place from April 26 to May 5 in Santo Domingo’s Colonial Fortress and in the Spanish Plaza, both situated in Santo Domingo’s Colonial Zone. All those interested in participating in conferences, book presentations, literary events, readings and recitals must fill out the application form.

Also, writing workshops on various literary genders as well as encouraging Reading activities. Other issues to be discussed will be education, knowledge, technological innovation, the world of books, culture and sciences. All proposals will be evaluated before including in the Fair’s final program.

Book Fair organizers announced that all those interested must deposit the application form. Those interested in setting up exhibits must add to the application a catalog or list, in print or in digital format, with the titles that will be exhibited during the Fair.

The applications will be available at the Fair office, situated in Santo Domingo’s Cultural Plaza, situated on Máximo Gómez Avenue, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. It is also available in the Ministry’s website: www.cultura.gob.do., in Instagram, and in the Ministry’s Facebook page.

Once the registration has been approved, all exhibitors will receive the Rules and Regulations of the Fair, including participation norms.
This year, Santo Domingo’s International Book Fair 2019 will honor Puerto Rico and will be dedicated to Dominican writer Virgilio Diaz Grullón.
