Santo Domingo, July 30, 2018 – Santo Domingo’s Children’s Choir celebrated the concert “One Instrument, One Voice” at the Palace of Fine Arts in Santo Domingo. An enthusiastic audience attended the gala event.
The choir, sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, is directed by Maestro Ángel Herdz and Ellin Rodríguez Luna, its general coordinator.
The concert program began with the Triumphant March, a composition authored by Professor Ángel Herdz and “Autumn,” by Italian composer Antonio Vivaldi. The program continued with the Chimes Choir, who performed “A Whole New World.” The Dominican Bronze Choir also performed “All the things.”
The highlight of the evening was the presentation of the Children’s Choir, which performed “Gloria Tibi Domine,” “Vois sur tur chemin,” “Sur” and “Sí.” The repertoire also included the “Ave María” by Caccini, with the participation of Estefani Almonte Luciano who performed a dance solo; “Serenata para la Terra de Uno,” and “Mi Quisqueya.”
Minister of Culture Eduardo Selman, accompanied by his wife Gloria Selman, attended the event accompanied by Félix Germán, director of the Palace of Fine Arts.
Each song performed by the choir was accompanied by a specific musical instrument, such as a piano and Dominican percussion instruments.
At the end of the performance, Coordinator Ellin Rodríguez invited Minister Selman to come on stage to take an official photograph with the young choir members.
The members of the choir receive special musical training, such as musical theory, vocal training, history of Dominican and universal music and language training.
The program is sponsored by the Ministry of Culture and is free of charge for its members.
