Santo Domingo, May 26, 2018 – For the first time the Dominican Film Festival in New York will feature a special festival outside the United States, from June 14-17, in Montreal, Canada. The Festival will feature nine films produced by Dominican filmmakers.
Festival director Armando Guareño said the goal of the event is to “discover and promote Dominican films in Montreal, as well as create a special space for film enthusiasts and lovers of Dominican culture.”
The event is carried out with the support of the Dominican General Film Directorate (DGCINE) and the organization Unidos por Nuestro País (unofficial translation “United for Our Country”), with the co-sponsorship of the country’s Ministry of Tourism, among others:

The Dominican Film Festival in New York
The Dominican Film Festival in New York was founded by Armando Guareño. The Festival officially opened on March 10, 2010 at the Coliseum Cinemas in Washington Heights, in Manhattan, featuring 30 Dominican films. Ever since then, until the 2017 edition, the Festival has grown in the number and quality of films. Last year, a total of 70 Dominican films were presented.
