Santo Domingo, June 1, 2018 – The foundation Corazón a Corazón announced that it will launch a project, headed by international teachers, to train Dominican artisans in various areas.
Project director Claudia Sandoval explained that the first of these workshops will be on metal engraving, headed by renowned Colombian master craftsman Cesar Cárdenas. This first workshop will be held from June 26-29 in Santo Domingo.
Sandoval also explained that the goal of this initiative is to provide local artisans with new techniques and training without having to travel outside the country, making the learning possibilities much more expensive.
Cárdenas, a master goldsmith with more than 25 years’ experience in this field, is teaches at the Arts & Crafts Santo Domingo School, in Bogotá, Colombia. During his long career he has participated in numerous national arts & crafts fairs and events. He has also worked for designers participating in the New York Fashion Week event, and has won multiple awards for his works in his native Colombia.
The three-day workshop will include academic training, support and working materials, coffee breaks, lunch and a certificate of participation.
At the end of the workshop the participants will exhibit the works produced by the participants as a way to promote their particular style and art.
