The first short documentary of the audiovisual project “Un acto de rebeldía al día” (non-official translation: One Rebellion a Day) will be presented on Monday, May 21, at 6:30 p.m. at Funglode headquarters in Santo Domingo.
Santo Domingo, May 11, 2018. – The Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and its sister organization in the Dominican Republic, the Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (Funglode), will feature the first short documentary of the audiovisual project “Un acto de rebeldía al día.”
The short film will be presented at Funglode headquarters in Santo Domingo, with the participation of the documentary’s producer Nicole Coiscou and director Isabella Bretón.
Funglode’s Juan Bosch Library is part of the organizing team that is organizing the event.
Both the documentary’s director and producer explained that the initiative is based on a concept generated by a group of young artists who, concerned over the continuous violent acts against women, are interested in focusing on the nucleus of the problem and expose the false notion that the issue of gender violence is a situation found only in low-income households.
After the viewing of the eight minute documentary there will be a panel discussion with the producer and director, where they will share with the public the dynamic they have used to strengthen the concepts presented in the short film.
The producer and director of the short also explained that the project goal is to strengthen the empowerment of Dominican women through daily routines that will allow them to liberate themselves from the Machista culture they face daily.
Other participants in the production include key personalities from the country’s cultural sector and social media representatives, such as: Carlos Durán, Paloma de la Cruz, June Gómez, Pamel Mancebo, Roger Manzano, JJ Sánchez, Sergio Echenique, Marina Frías, Kat Montes, Nicole Lockward, Lo Blanquito, Natalia Azar, Lola Lora, Jean Michel Zayas, Paloma Richiez, Emmanuel Silverio, Nicole Lockward, Marcos Mañón, Gabriela Ortega y Nicole Coiscou.
