Santo Domingo, May 25, 2018 – They say it is difficult for a second edition to top the original, and even stranger that the third attempt surpasses the first two. However, musician Pengbian Sang and his Retro Jazz group proved that this formula is not always fool proof. On Saturday, May 19, a lively and overflowing crowd attended the Retro Jazz group’s concert at the Spanish Plaza, in Santo Domingo’s Colonial Zone where they confirmed with their applause and enthusiasm that the group’s new production was much more than expected.
The enthusiastic crowd enjoyed the official launching of “Jazzeando,” Volume 3, produced
By Pengbian Sang & Retro Jazz.
Right from the very start, the crowd connected with the group which opened with the popular Dominican song ¨Andresito Reyna.¨ It continued with an additional 16 songs from Pengbian Sang’s latest production, as well as a selection of past hits. Special videos were presented featuring the testimonies of the performing musicians, which immediately engaged the audience. Group members Pengbian Sang, Nairoby Duarte, Álvaro Dinzey, Federico Méndez, Jesús ¨Gury¨ Abreu, Guy Frómeta and Edgar Molina were on stage to give the audience their all.
The music-loving audience overflowed the entire Plaza, giving the members of the Retro Jazz group tremendous support after concluding each song.
One of the concert’s most exciting moments was when the group played “Atada a tu Volcán¨ (unofficial translation: Tied to Your Volcano). Also, during the concert Pengbian invited on stage Dominican trumpet players Pedro Liberato and Raldy Ramírez, trombonists Carlos Torres and Silvio Trinidad and sax players Nayadé Macea and Junior Sánchez. With the participation of these top musicians, the Retro Jazz became a Big Band concert. A truly unique performance enjoyed by all.
