London, October 22, 2018 – The British Chamber of Commerce of the Dominican Republic (BRITCHAM) and the Dominican Embassy in London officially opened the 7th Annual Dominican Week in Great Britain. Heading the opening ceremony was Dominican Foreign Minister Miguel Vargas Maldonado.
The Dominican Ambassador in Great Britain, Federico Cuello Camilo, and the President of the Britcham, Leonel Melo, opened the much-awaited week with a keynote address on the business climate in the Dominican Republic. The remarks were delivered during the Latin American Forum on Investment, where the future of trade relations between Great Britain and Latin America was amply discussed by experts.
“Dominican Week brings together the most important agenda of activities for the establishment of business relations and networks between Great Britain and the Dominican Republic. It is also the most important promotional space for bilateral investment between our nations,” explained Ambassador Cuello Camilo during the opening ceremony in London. The British Ambassador in the D.R., Chris Campbell, also attended the event.
The agenda of activities includes a series of visits and meetings between Dominican and British authorities, as well as conferences on trade relations covering issues important to both nations.
The 7th Dominican Week, which will run until Friday, October 26, hopes to diversify trade and investment between both nations, placing special emphasis in turning the country into Latin America’s Logistic Center, with access to the principal markets of the world through the export of goods and services to these specific destinations.
The 7th Annual Dominican Fair in Great Britain is sponsored by the Ministry of Foreign Relations of the Dominican Republic, the National Council of Free Trade Zones, the General Film Directorate, and the National Council on Competitiveness. Other sponsors include INICIA, Pernod Ricard Dominicana, De La Rue, Lift Air Group, DP World, Air Europa, De Camps Vásquez Valera, Banco Popular Dominicano, Banco de Reservas, Diageo Dominicana, Mercado and HOLA magazines, among others.
