Santo Domingo, January 22, 2020 – For a fourth consecutive year the executive staff of “Acropolis Center and Jazz in Dominicanana” will officially open this spring season on Wednesday, February 5. The weekly “Jazz Nights at Acrópolis¨ is the only one of its kind held in the country. And, each year since its very first concert, the event has continued to attract jazz lovers from all over the country who come to enjoy the music performed by top national and international artists.
Every Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. the mall’s Central Atrium turns into the country’s most important Jazz Club. At that moment, the performing musicians pick up their particular instruments and begin the evening’s repertoire of Jazz, Latin, Blues, Swing, Funk, Bossa Nova and many more popular rhythms!
During the last three seasons jazz lovers begin to arrive early at the mall to guarantee a good “listening spot.” This upcoming Wednesday, February 5, organizers believe the pattern will surpass past seasons in terms of audience and the participation of the number of top jazz performers. .Because of past experience, concert organizers have announced that there will be more jazz than ever. Scheduled so far are two seasons: Spring (February-April) and Summer-Fall (July-September).
Opening of Spring Season 2020: Wednesday, February 5 with Jordi Masalles & Tiempo Libre
The first Jazz Nights at Acropolis began on August 23, 2017. The turnout was unexpected: standing-room only. On that day, at 6:00 p.m. jazz performer Jordi Masalles and his “Tiempo Libre” group put on a memorable performance that set the standard for future concerts.
This year, the season will once again open with Jordi Masalles, who has prepared a special program to honor the history of jazz. Organizers say that Masalles’ program will highlight some of the best and most memorable pieces of the genre. It promises to be a great evening, with a program that will represent the best of Jazz, Latin, Blues, Swing, Funk, Bossa Nova, and much more!
