Santo Domingo, November 21, 2018 – The Dominican Ministry of Culture is sponsoring the presentation of “Rosa,” by the National Theater Company, to close the National Theater Tour 2018. “Rosa” is a story of love trapped in the web of honor of the Dominican countryside culture. The play, an adaption of “Rosa” by Dominican famed writer and former President Juan Bosch, was directed by Fausto Rojas.
The actors who participated in the presentation are all renowned performers, such as: Manuel Raposo (Juan), Yorlla Castillo (Rosa), Gilberto Hernández (Juan), Maggy Liranzo (Marta), Yamile Schecker (Marta), Miguel Bucarelly (Amézquita), Ernesto Báez (Inocencio), Wilson Ureña (Antonio Rosario), Johnnié Mercedes (Nisio Santos), Orestes Amador (Nisio Santos), Cristela Gómez (La vieja), Canek Denis (Rabonegro), Alejandro Moss (Mariposa), Vadir González (musician) and Francys Frica (Neblina).
“Rosa” tells the story of Juan who, in his quest to give meaning to his adventurous existence, returns to his village, to his cows, and to Rosa. It seemed as if Juan, a man older than the young woman, would initiate a romantic affair that would lead to their permanent union. However, local gossipers contributed to bring forth the feelings of freedom, Juan’s decision to settle down, and his sense of honor.
The play will be presented November 27-28 at the main hall of Santo Domingo’s National Theater at 8:30 pm.
Tickets are available at the Theater’s ticket booth completely free of charge. Tickets must be obtained prior to the performance.
