Dominican Oratory Society (SODODE) and Funglode Announce Upcoming First Communication and Oratory Congress

The event is scheduled to take place between September 13-15. Fourteen experts in different areas of communication will share their experiences and will provide orientation on the new tendencies currently being used to communicate with the general public, as well as improve oratory skills.

Santo Domingo, September 8, 2019 – The Dominican Oratory and Debate Society invite all those interested to the First Communication and Oratory Congress that will begin Friday, September 13 and run through Sunday, September 15. The three-day event will be held at the Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (Funglode), with the support of Viva Dominicana, the local daily “El Nuevo Diario” and Achecar & Achecar.
In all, 14 experts will share their knowledge and experience on these important sectors during the event. Aside from keynote conferences, the program will also include 10 workshops.
Conferences
The opening conference will be delivered by Carolina Santana, an expert in Politics and Communications. Ms. Santana holds a Masters degree from Harvard University. The conference is titled “The Impact of Language in the Construction of the Imaginary.”
Attorney Gregorio Cabrera, radio and television political analyst and columnist in various mass media outlets, will speak on “The Art of Persuasion.”
Alex Acra, a consultant on corporate wellbeing, as well as coach, founder and executive director of MaxLife, will address the audience on “Entrepreneurialship as Orator.”
“Humor in Speeches” will be addressed by comedian Elías Serulle, who holds a Master degree in Literary Creation from the PUCMM, one of the country´s most prestigious universities.
Pamela Martínez, SODODE director and specialist in debates and oratory, is scheduled to close the event with a keynote speech on “One Message, One Thousand Audiences.”
A two-time winner of the film award “La Silla,” writer and playwright Miguel Yarull will head a conference on “Incorporating Anecdotes and Parables in a Speech in order to Further Persuade Your Audience.”

Workshops
Francisco Montalvo, executive director and founder of VozzIT, an expert on oratory skills and a professional broadcaster, will lead a workshop on how to open a speech and, most importantly, how to end a speech with a solid message.
Libio Encarnación, a communications expert, academic, strategic consultant and CEO of “Enfoque Consultoría Estratégica,” will lead the workshop on “How to Control Body Movements Provoked by Stage Fright.”
Julio Monteverde – an expert on the subject matter as well as an attorney and organizational psychologist – and executive director of VozzIT Academy and “Somos Magia RD”, will lead his workshop on “Oratory for Entrepreneurs.”
Jorge Risk, an expert coach on relationships – certified by the Robbins –Madanes Training Center, a debate coach certified in Boston College, and advisor to work teams hoping to improve their communications skills, will discuss how to put together a “Memorable Speech.”
Elliot Martínez, RNN broadcaster, commercial announcer, voice-over actor, host of CardNet Live Talk and the Cachicha local news outlet, will head a workshop on “How to Manage Your Voice.”
Marjorie Félix, attorney, political consultant, and a public image advisor, will go into detail on the issue of “Etiquette Rules that an Orator Must Abide By Depending on the Communication Situation He/She May Face.”
Communications expert Nathalie Ruiz, who is currently in charge of the Digital Cabinet of the Office of the Vice President, will head a workshop on “Correct Ways to Generate Digital Quality Content for Social Media Outlets.”
Patricia Luciano, also a ccommercial announcer, producer and television host, with more than seven years’ experience as media director, will speak on the importance of podcasts and how to produce them.
