Government Honors Outgoing French Ambassador The government honored the outgoing French Ambassador Cecile Pozzo di Borgo, who, after three years, is ending her diplomatic mission here in the Dominican Republic . Referred to as “highly deserving,” Ms. Pozzi di Borgo was given the Duarte , Sánchez and Mella Merit Award, the highest honor bestowed upon an individual, according to the Foreign Ministry. “sealed the bonds of Dominican-French friendship while maintaining an enduring connection through its friendly international relations.” Upon bestowing the honor, Dominican Foreign Minister Carlos Morales Troncoso, pointed to the positive work done by the French Embassy and the strong links of friendship and cooperation between the two countries. Morales Troncoso recalled that France was one of the first nations to recognize Dominican national independence in 1844 and ever since then has “sealed the bonds of Dominican-French friendship while maintaining an enduring connection through its friendly international relations.” Pozzo di Borgo thanked the government for the award and referred to the ongoing bilateral relations between the two countries saying they were “always supported by the strong bonds of friendship, mutual respect and deep trust.” | ||
