Fourth Constitutional Reform Panel Meets in New York

The Dominican Presidency along with Coordination for National Dialogue and the Institutionalism and Justice Foundation met on Tuesday night in New York City for the fourth meeting of the “Forum for Constitutional Reform: Roundtable Discussion,” which is promoting a constitutional reform draft bill to be submitted by the Executive Office to the National Congress.

Ray Guevara said the Constitutional reform draft bill now before the National Congress will be the mother of all reforms because of its multiple achievements that benefit democracy and Dominican institutionalism.

Throughout the meeting, the issue of nationality was dealt with by constitutionalist experts Milton Ray Guevara and Adriano Miguel Tejada, according to a press release from the President´s Office of Information, Press and Publicity.

Ray Guevara said the Constitutional reform draft bill now before the National Congress will be the mother of all reforms because of its multiple achievements that benefit democracy and Dominican institutionalism.

Miguel Tejada said he considered that once the constitutional reform project is approved, the Dominican Republic will have a Magna Carta that contains the tools for an influential, democratic and representative state which will usher in huge advances for the country.

Both speakers agreed that the legislation will be to the great benefit of the Dominican people living outside the country in that it guarantees their Dominican identity and that of their children.

At the meeting, which was broadcast in the Dominican Republic, representatives of the New York Dominican community participated and put questions to the panelists.
