Isabella Wall: “Porfirio Rubirosa Inspired the Creation of James Bond” Dominican author, actress, producer and Hollywood resident, Isabella Wall will visit the Dominican Republic to introduce her book “Chasing Rubi, The Truth about Porfirio Rubirosa, The Last Playboy” which is based on the life of Dominican playboy-diplomat, Porfirio Rubirosa, to be released in Spanish next year. Wall, as representative of the Ministry of Tourism for the Dominican Republic in Los Angeles, California, is involved in promoting the DR as a tourist destination… The well-known actress who has played important roles on such TV programs as ER, NIP/TUCK and DAYS OF OUR LIVES, reveals her writing skills with this book, penned originally in English, based on interviews and memories, secret FBI files and 15 years of research on the most prolific Dominican diplomat known as “the greatest lover of the 20th Century” and “the Casanova of the Caribbean.” Isabella has been busy all these years in Los Angeles. When the Spanish edition of the book is released it is expected to be even more comprehensive than the English version with photographs and information that was not revealed in the English edition. This version of the book also confirms her thesis that Rubirosa was Ian Fleming´s inspiration for his James Bond character, judging by her research through FBI files. Isabella has a series of projects lined up based on the FBI files, among which is a film about this fascinating character. Wall, as representative of the Ministry of Tourism for the Dominican Republic in Los Angeles, California, is involved in promoting the DR as a tourist destination but also as a venue for making films, television programs and holding commercial activities for the entertainment industry. As such, she intends to make a film about the famous Dominican diplomat and playboy to promote the DR as a great film destination. “Our country is the new St. Barts. We can combine relaxing and fun tourism with executive retreats. This is attractive for such people as Bill and Hillary Clinton, Oscar de la Renta and Julio Iglesias, just to name a few,” said Isabella. The young businesswoman is taking advantage of her visit to Santo Domingo to take part as a special guest in the 2nd Dominican Global Film Festival sponsored by FUNGLODE. She will attend the gala benefit “Successful Women Dressed for Hope,” organized by Dominican designer Jorge Diep, to be held on November 19. The Dominican actress and model, Isabella Wall, has represented the DR as Miss Dominican Republic at numerous international events. As an American citizen, she is known as one of Revlon´s Unforgettable Women and is a member of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. “Chasing Rubi” has been a total success in that it is the first biography about Rubirosa published in English. The new version of the book is an easy 231-page read with 46 photographs. The Spanish version has new chapters that cover the period of Rubi´s life from his birth in the Dominican Republic in 1909 to his death in 1965 in Paris. Many speculate that his death, at 56, was not an accident. “The Spanish version will be an important document in that it reveals Porfirio Rubirosa as an historic figure on various continents, involved in international, political and secret missions that, up until now, are unknown to the Dominican people. “The Rubirosa who was under constant surveillance, from his telephone calls to his romantic trysts, will leave the reader intrigued and asking themselves ´was this Dominican really capable of the exploits the FBI claimed he was?´,” concluded Wall. | ||
