New Slogan for Dominican Tourism “The Dominican Republic has it all” is the new slogan just made public by the Ministry of Tourism (SECTUR). With this new slogan the ministry will continue to promote the country on a national and international level as a “mature” tourist destination with potential attractions that go beyond the sun and beaches. “With this slogan we’re starting a publicity push on an international level so that the world can see that the only thing the Dominican Republic doesn’t have is snow,” Speaking at the International Tourism Fair (FITUR) in Madrid, Spain, Tourism Minister Francisco Javier García explained that the new slogan is all about an innovative concept to project and promote the country’s attractive and diverse tourism offerings which he listed as eco-tourism, adventure tourism, historical and cultural tourism, among others. “With this slogan we’re starting a publicity push on an international level so that the world can see that the only thing the Dominican Republic doesn’t have is snow,” said García Fernández. He said adventure and cultural tourism are going to be re-launched and that the ministry is designing a plan which is to be called “tourism for everyone” which seeks to awaken the tourism spirit among Dominicans and encourage them to travel inside their own country. The Tourism Ministry is developing a series of projects. Among those mentioned are the National Signposting Plan and a plan to collect all existing signs around the country with the idea of editing the informative material and making more helpful for international tourists and hotels as well as for local residents. The Minister of Tourism was chief speaker at a breakfast meeting with the presidents of the Spanish hotel chains with investments in the Dominican Republic. García Fernández presented an evaluation of the current status of the tourism sector in the DR as well as laying out the plans his ministry is undertaking this year.
