Environment, Education and Culture Ministries Lead First Bi-National School Eco-Visits Environment and Natural Resources Minister Jaime David Fernández Mirabal, Education Minister Melanio Paredes and Culture Minister Rafael Lantigua began the First Day of the Bi-National “Eco-Visits for Environmental Education and Recreation” in an act that took place on Wednesday at the National Aquarium. The School Eco-Visits Program supports the educational process developed by the schools through the experience being acquired by students coming into contact with the flora and fauna. Some 400 7th and 8th grade students from the provinces of Hermanas Mirabal, La Romana, San Cristóbal, Dajabón, Santo Domingo Este and Tirolí (Haiti) visited the offices belonging to the Environment Ministry including the National Aquarium, the National Botanical Gardens, the Dominican Zoo and the Museum of Natural History.
The School Eco-Visits Program supports the educational process developed by the schools through the experience being acquired by students coming into contact with the flora and fauna. It is implemented by the Deputy Ministry of Education and Environmental Information of SEMARENA, with the support of the Ministry of Education. Participants in the activity included Haiti’s National School of Tiroli, Villa Anacaona School, of Dajabón, Salome Ureña, Pedro Domínguez and San Cristóbal; the Juan Bosch Polytechnic and the School of Cachón de la Rubia, from Santo Domingo East; Villa Amaro and La Ceiba Afuera, near the province of Hermanas Mirabal and Cristo Rey, Paulina Jiménez and Mercedes Laura Aguiar, of Romana.
