President Fernadez Meets with Raul Castro

Dominican President Leonel Fernández, met on Tuesday with his Cuban counterpart Raúl Castro Ruz for more than an hour at the Palace of the Revolution. The Presidential Guard bestowed full military honors on the Dominican President upon arrival. He later inspected the troops followed by the National anthems of both countries.

The meeting began at 5:00 in the afternoon, Cuban time and 6:00 p.m. in the DR. Previously Raúl Castro had offered his greetings to the Dominican delegation which was made up of Foreign Minister, Carlos Morales Troncoso; Education Minister Melanio Paredes; Eddy Martínez of the Center for Export and Investment in the Dominican Republic and journalist and press secretary Rafael Núñez, according to the Presidential Office of Information, Press and Publicity.

On Wednesday, the President had a previously scheduled dinner in his honor held in the Protocol Hall of the Palace of the Revolution. On Thursday, the President will visit Casa de las Americas and Professor Juna Bosch. In the evening he will attend the 2nd International Economists Meeting.
