Dominican Republic Participates in the “New York Times Travel Show” For the fourth consecutive year, the Dominican Republic participated in the tourism show organized annually by the prestigious newspaper the New York Times, held at the Jacob Javits Convention Center in the Big Apple. “There was also very positive support for the large hotel chains in our country as well as at the show. Lucien Echavarría, director of the Dominican Office of Tourism Promotion (OPT in Spanish) in New York, said 450 exhibitors from 100 countries around the world participated in the New York Times Travel Show. Ms. Echavarría listed a variety of hotels that formed part of the Dominican promotional stand including Casa de Campo, Majestic Resorts, VIK Hotels, Punta Cana Resort, Fiesta Palladium Hotels, Sun Village & The Bungalows and the Barceló Hotels. “Our involvement in this international event was very important for our country as a destination among all the tour operators and travel agents present who are looking to the DR for Caribbean tourism,” said Echavarría. “There was also very positive support for the large hotel chains in our country as well as at the show. For example, we shared our kiosk with the Casa de Campo, Majestic Resorts, VIK Hotels, Punta Cana Resort, Fiesta Palladium Hotels, Sun Village & the Bungalows and Barceló Hotels, among others. “ The promotion of the Dominican Republic as a destination involved the projection of our beautiful beaches, rich history and culture, eco-tourism, food and many other things. People at the Tourism Fair who stopped by the Dominican stand enjoyed a troupe of limping devils and other carnival characters, folk dancers, cigar rolling and sipping on Dominican Rum while they picked up information to enjoy, in person, all that the Dominican Republic has to offer its visitors. | ||
