The board of directors of the Tourism Police (POLITUR) hired some 250 new agents and has incorporated 13 modern vehicles in an effort to strengthen and make more efficient the force’s vigilance and orientation work in the various tourist areas around the Dominican Republic.

Brigade General Henry Gómez Bueno, POLITUR Director, explained that the all terrain vehicles as well as the new members of the POLITUR force will be immediately incorporated into the area of prevention in an effort to facilitate the rising number of visitors to the DR every year which, he said, is a “result of the fact that we are one of the safest destinations in the area.”


The Police official added that every day they are incorporating innovative vigilance systems with cutting edge technology in the main tourism areas of the country, including the use of cameras that are being used in the municipality of Bávaro in Altagracia province, according to the President’s Office of Information, Press and Publicity.


General Gómez Bueno added that POLITUR is constantly in a process of training and educating its personnel through courses and seminars to prepare them to be efficient and helpful to tourists.
