Johnny Ventura will receive a Grammy for Muscial Excellence

Johnny Ventura will close his “Sabrosa despedida” [Sweet farewell] tour with an added touch of gold after being chosen to receive a “Latin Grammy” for musical excellence on November 1st in New York.

The “Stallion” will receive recognition from the Latin Recording Academy for his contribution to music and his artistic career.

The prize for Musical Excellence is awarded to men and women who have becom iconic figures in the world of music and have brought their own unique interpretation to their music.

The board of directors of the Grammys, made up of 16 people, is in charge of selecting the recipients of the award each year. It is interesting to note that the choice of his interpretation of the song “Pistaste”  was made unanimously, which was no great surprise.

The merengue singer has already confirmed that he will be attending the ceremony which takes place a day before the Latin Grammys, due to take place this year on November 2nd.

Johnny is excited, as he did not expect to receive so much this year, having been busy with his “Sabrosa despedida” tour which started last month in the town of Miches.

“For me the recognition that I have received means a lot because of everything it signifies, as in 2006, because I am celebrating 50 years in the business, and in every town I go to people show me that their affection is still the same as ever” adds the singer.
