Dominican President to Participate in World Conference on Africa

Dominican President Leonel Fernández will travel to Tripoli, Libya to participate in a Special Summit on the African Union which will focus on the situation and the resolution of conflicts facing the African continent.

President Fernández will speak at the event as a representative of Latin America and the Caribbean. He will also hold meetings and conversations with important leaders and personalities from Africa which will contribute to expanding Dominican relations with that part of the world.

Fernández will travel this Friday to New York on a private jet from the San Isidro Air Base, according to the President’s Office of Information, Press and Publicity.

The President, scheduled to depart at 11:00 am, will be accompanied by Foreign Minister Carlos Morales Troncoso; State Minister Miguel Mejía; Presidential Press Secretary, Rafael Núñez and Eddy Martínez, Director of the Center for Export and Investment of the Dominican Republic (CEI-RD in Spanish).

The delegation is expected to arrive at JFK International Airport in New York at 3:40 in the afternoon. At 5:45 pm, they will take a private AF17 flight to Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris, France arriving at 7:30 in the morning on Saturday.

From Paris, the President and his delegation will continue on to Tripoli, the capital of Libya, where they will arrive at 6:32 pm on Sunday.
President Fernández will return through Madrid, Spain on Wednesday September 2nd on Iberia flight number 6501. He will land at Las Americas International Airport at 3:45 pm.
